Beta Reading

As an author, you've probably poured your heart, soul, and every last sip of your coffee into your book. It’s your baby—your masterpiece. But before you send it out into the wild, wouldn’t it be nice to know if readers will actually love it...or if you’ve accidentally created a plot hole big enough to lose a truck in?

Books are the best escape from real life, but nothing snaps readers back to reality faster than a character acting like they've forgotten who they are—or worse, a plot twist that doesn’t twist but trips. You don’t want your ratings to plummet because of that!

You want your book to be so gripping that readers are left with a book hangover (you know, the good kind where they can’t stop thinking about it for days). That’s where I come in.

I've been beta reading professionally for six years, working across all genres, and a good number of those books have gone on to become bestsellers. I’ll help you polish your story so that it's ready to shine.

So, are you ready to make your book a BESTSELLER?

Get your book beta read by me

  • Discover if your book is really ready for the spotlight after you've given it your best self-edit (because let's face it, even the best of us can miss things).

  • Hear honest feedback—both the “I love this!” and the “let's talk about this part” kind—and be open to discussing your vision.

  • Roll up your sleeves and tackle those revisions head-on to elevate your story to bestseller status.

  • Set aside the nerves and embrace the process, because it's all about making your book the best it can be. And hey, I’m just here for the ride through your world!

If you're willing to:

Terms & Details:
  • Please send your manuscript in Microsoft Word format with a short synopsis or blurb.

  • I read all genres but appreciate a heads-up about any potentially sensitive content like sexual violence or child abuse.

  • Standard turnaround is 3–4 weeks for a 50k–80k manuscript (depending on the length, that might extend a little). Expect updates every 15–20 days as I dive into my third read-through. Yes, I read it three times.

Here’s what you’ll get:
  • Comprehensive feedback on the plot, pacing, and writing style.

  • Character consistency checks to make sure no one’s suddenly acting out of character—unless that’s the plot twist!

  • Flow and plot development insights.

  • Chapter-by-chapter critique using Microsoft Word's track changes (no need to worry, I’ll be gentle… mostly).

When you’re ready to get started, here's how it works:

Once you’ve submitted your details through my form, I’ll send you an Upwork contract (I handle all my work through Upwork for ease and transparency).

You’ll make the full payment upfront, which will be securely held in Upwork’s escrow.

After I’ve completed the beta reading and delivered the feedback to you, you’ll release the payment from escrow. Easy and stress-free!

This way, everything is smooth, secure, and straightforward for both of us.

Charges

Let’s talk numbers, shall we? Here’s the lowdown on what it’ll cost to get your manuscript beta read (and no, it won’t cost you your sanity):

- For manuscripts up to 150k words, it's just $0.0012 per word.

- Got a longer masterpiece? For anything over 150k words, it’s $0.0014 per word.

- If your manuscript is on the shorter side—less than 5k words—I charge a flat rate of $5. For less than 10k words, it’s $10. Easy, right?

Oh, and to keep things simple, I round up to the nearest whole number (because who has time for decimal drama?).

Need a rush job?

No worries, I’ve got you covered:

- For manuscripts under 90k words, there’s a $25 rush fee.

- For 90k to 150k words, the rush fee is $30.

- For over 150k words, it’s $40.

If you need your manuscript back super fast, we can discuss adjusting the price based on how quickly you need it in your hands.
